Using an automation thermal imaging camera such as the FLIR A310 it is possible to monitor the flare flame in real time, thus automating flame control. Flares are used in the refining industry to burn by-product gases, gases from pressure relief valves, or gases that the process cannot use. Flare combustion is very important for plant safety and for reducing environmental impact.
