A loss of internal insulation in a transformer leads to a point heating which, if unnoticed, can cause a failure in the installation with a potentially significant impact on subscribers. A thermography monitoring system is active 24/7, thus detecting these trends and allowing a more precise control of critical points than a semi-annual inspection by means of a portable thermographic camera.
