Production quality of the BMW 5-series is monitored using FLIR thermal imaging cameras


At BMW Dingolfing they have equipped 10 dynamometer benches with FLIR A310 thermal imaging cameras to check that the opening of the auxiliary exhaust lines is correctly performed when the car's engine is running at high rpm. The thermal imaging camera is placed above the exhaust lines and the inspectors can see when combustion fumes are coming out of the exhaust and when they are not.
