FLIR thermography in the automotive industry: monitoring gluing of structural inserts


The article describes how FIAT uses FLIR A615 thermal imaging cameras to monitor the bonding process. On the production line, the control of welding temperatures is automated by thermography: this is a breakthrough in quality control, as all parts produced are checked without destructive sampling to inspect the weld.
