Thermal imaging of the French railway system with FLIR thermal imaging cameras

A country's railway network is a vast network of catenaries and electrical connections, which thousands of people use every day. That is why SNCF has relied on thermography from the outset. They use both hand-held thermal imaging cameras and fixed automation cameras mounted on an instrumented carriage, which inspects the line at 120 km/h. At this speed, the thermal imaging camera is capable of recording the entire power line!
