The machining laboratory at the RWTH Aachen University is a state-of-the-art site where they study machining of specific materials and complex geometries such as aircraft turbines. They use the FLIR SC7600 thermal imaging camera to thermograph the temperatures reached by workpiece and chips. This is made possible by the high speed of the FLIR SC7600, which has a maximum frame rate of 800 thermal images per second.
