More than 80% of the buses in the Lille metropolitan transport system are powered by natural gas and refuel at the bus station. Using 10 FLIR A310 thermal imaging cameras, an early fire detection system has been implemented to protect against the eventuality of a fire. The system is capable of detecting an incipient fire source and is connected to the alarm center, so that action can be taken before it spreads and reaches the natural gas tank.
