Uses of FLIR thermal imaging cameras in volcanology


Thermography is a very efficient tool to visualize volcanic activity, almost always related to large heat fluxes. In Italy, the scientific community uses the FLIR SC660 thermographic camera with telescopic lens for remote observation of the behavior of erupting volcanoes, and with the standard 24° lens for field measurements when safety conditions allow it.
