APPLICATION HIGHLIGHTS: INSPECTIONS OF FIRED FURNACES

Flir_Ovens_GF309

Measure the metal temperatures of furnace tubes through a gas flame with thermography.

Tubes in a combustion chamber can overheat and rupture, leading to uncontrolled fire and other collateral damage. Damage to refractory material and improper burner alignment can also lead to overheating and ruptures, resulting in downtime and a personal safety issue, especially near openings and inspection ladders. Therefore, it is crucial to routinely inspect and evaluate the condition of the external steel combustion chamber, tubes and supports using a furnace inspection camera with thermographic capabilities. This type of camera allows inspectors to see through the gas flames and determine if localized internal coking is occurring or if there is a danger of external coking.
